We Made It!!!

Hey guys, I just wanted to let everybody know that April, Emmet, Weston, and myself made it back here last night in one piece. Everything turned out awesome. Thank you guys so much for helping us out. We would have been in a huge hole without a ladder if we didn't have help from everyone in our family. Having an extra child "REALLY" does make things 10 times harder. Try going through "Miami Airport Security" with a stroller, a Wolverine 1 year-old, a newborn, and 3 backpacks full of baby stuff. It was a complete nightmare, and I almost gave myself a brain bleed when the security officer instructed me that I had to take my son's sweatshirt off and put it in the screening machine. I was grabbing everything with one arm, while I held Emmet and had to fold up the stroller with one arm and put it through the screener. I am sooooo glad that Grandpa Moberg flew with April to Miami to meet up with me. He was such a huge asset and help for us at the Miami airport. The beginning airline only would check the bags in to Miami, so we had to pick them up from baggage claims in Miami and get them checked in to Grand Cayman. There is absolutely NO WAY I could have had both kids, plus a stroller, plus a moving box full toys, plus a car seat, and plust 2 huge suitcases on my own, even with April helping, because she had to hold Weston. Especially since we had to walk all the way to the opposite end of the airport to check in. The flight was good from Miami to Grand Cayman, Emmet sat with me and loved staring outside the window. When we went through Immigration we had something awesome happen. The Immigration lady was really nice and was asking questions about how I liked Med School, etc. I told her that the only bad thing is that it cost us 1400CI ($1600US) to pay for the visa's for April and Emmet to stay here on the island with me. Her jaw about hit the floor and called her Supervisor to come over. They both couldn't believe that the dependent fees were that much, but luckily whenever I leave the country I always keep every important document with me. So I showed them the receipt. The immigration officer who was also really nice called the "Head Guy" that's in charge of Immigration Visa's "AT HOME" last night and asked him how much the fees are. He then told her that it only costs $200 per dependent, and to call him on Tuesday morning so that I can get a $1000 ($1200) refund!!! WHOOOOOO HOOOOOOO!!! Looks like we get to swim with the dolphins, etc after all..... We also had another luggage problem. Somebody mistakenly took one of our bags. But the Customs official thought she knew who it was and called them up at the hotel, and sure enough that person did have our luggage. The airport wouldn't give him his bag until he paid for a taxi for us to get our bag, so last night they brought us our bag and apologized nearly a thousand times. Also.... it was so cute..... we walked into our condo, I let Emmet down on the floor and he started to laugh and sprinted from our door all the way to the living room sliding glass door, and immediately started to play with the huge stuffed basketballs that I bought for him. Then he started to play with his toys that play songs and started to do his right legged foot stomp to the music. It was awesome to see that he was happy to be here. Right now, I'm up writing this post, while April, Emmet, and Weston have been sleeping for the past 2 1/2 hours... so they are getting refueled from yesterday.

So everything turned out awesome with the help of all of our family, and we get $1000CI back. LOL.... that's 500 loafs of bread...or 400 gallons of milk....

April Looks Great!!! (and she's going to kill me for posting this)

I just had to post this picture of April and Weston, because I know that April would have never done it herself, and they look so cute together. April had Weston only 1 1/2 months ago and I think that she looks GREAT! There is no way that you would have ever known that April just had a baby. I finally get to be back together with April, Emmet, and Weston this weekend. I'll be flying to Miami in the morning to meet up with April, Emmet, Weston, and Grandpa Moberg and then we'll be flying back here to our condo that same night. Its going to make for a very long day, but it will be worth it once we get here. I'm so excited to be back together with my family, it definitely isn't the same here without them. As you can see by the picture, Weston is HUGE and is gaining ground on Emmet. They both had their doctor appointments on Tuesday. Emmet weighed in at 23lbs and Weston weighed in at 13 lbs!!! LOL......

Just a quick update!

I'm posting just a few new pictures of the boys for all to see...mainly for the daddy since he's clear across the ocean! We finally will be all together this coming saturday and I'm so excited! I know Weston has changed so much...it will be fun to see Ryan's reaction and Emmet misses his dad so much! If only I could get passed the feeling of doom clouding my thoughts....that day of flying back is going to be the longest day of my life. Thankfully Grandpa Moberg will be there to help me out! That and I hate packing!!!

Weston is getting more and more animated all the time. I managed to catch a small grin! He is still such a sweet baby...if only he would sleep :) The little nut wants to be held ALL the time and just snuggle. As soon as I lay him down he wakes up. I know rough...but I have things to do!

He's almost 2 months old...time has flown by so fast!

Emmet woke up today from his nap (note the crazy hair) so so happy! I love it when he's in such a good mood. He is getting an even bigger personality then he had before. Throwing his pacifier on the ground and stomping when he doesn't get his way...hilarious! Tapping just one foot when he hears a good beat and running and yelling around the house!

He loves to share everything. While I was taking pictures he was trying to feed me his goldfish crackers...for some reason he thinks it's so funny to feed people...who knows why?!

Posing sweetly for the camera (yeah right)...right after this he smacked the camera out of my hands...stinker!

Emmet's First Birthday!!!

Yay! Emmet is one years old! I honestly have to say he had the best birthday a one year old could possibly have. From the moment he woke up to time he went down he was all smiles! Ryan was so cute, Uncle Scott and Ryan went and got party supplies and after that Ryan spent the entire night baking a cake (we both don't really like cake, but we had to have one to decorate for the party!), making a cheesecake, and a personal cheesecake for little Emmet. After that he blew up balloons and a punching bag (I'm surprised he didn't pass out!) and finally got to bed around 2 am! What a great dad! The next morning I'm sure was all worth it though! When Emmet saw those balloons he hit the ground running at maximum speed! He went crazy hitting them and jumping on them, it was hilarious! After that we got him ready for the day, putting him in his very special "Birthday Boy" outfit, (Thanks Grandma Moberg!) and played and played. That night we had a special birthday Dinner at Michael's that just about everybody attended(I was sad my family couldn't come, but they were all sick)! We had planned on going to Uncle Scott's basketball game because he LOVES them, but it got canceled due to bad weather...bummer! After dinner we opened presents, sang "Happy Birthday" and let him tear into his birthday cake! He was laughing and yelling all the way! I really couldn't have imagined a better birthday for him...he loved to open the presents and he got so into the birthday cake...it was picture perfect! I'm so happy that we came back to Washington just to see him have a birthday party that more than just mom and dad could be at. I mean how boring! I can't believe that he is one though...time sure flies! And what a fun little guy he has turned out to be! He really is exactly what we pictured...so funny, full of energy, and the loviest little guy you could ever imagine! We love you Emmet and Happy Birthday!!!

Emmet's first birthday morning!

He had a ball playing with all these balloons!

Emmet and Aunt Tay wrestling with the punching bag!

Everyone who attended Emmet's first birthday dinner!

Emmet's buddy cousin Conner...what a cutie :)

Dad, Mom, and little brother Weston

Emmet had a blast at dinner eating and yelling like crazy! He must've known it was his special day because he didn't hold back!

Time for presents!!!

After Aunt Taylor showed Emmet how to rip the presents open he got really into it! What a fun Aunt!

Emmet got so many fun toys and cute clothes for his birthday. Thank you so much Grandma and Grandpa Moberg and Uncle Jess and Aunt Kellie! We love them all!

Emmet LOVES his toys, but he had almost as much fun with the colorful wrapping paper...what a nut!

My very first birthday cake! I think it turned out pretty great...even with Ryan breathing down my neck to get the lines on the basketball right! Hahaha!

Getting ready to sing "Happy Birthday!"

Of course Emmet went right for the flame on the candle!!! AHHH! We had a tight grip on those hands after that!!!

Getting a feel for the whole birthday thing....I think he looked up a few times to see if mom and dad would tell him "NO-NO!"
At first we weren't so sure if he'd get into tearing into his birthday cake, but after he got one taste of it he was chowing down like a champ!

I'm sure he was thinking this is the best day ever! He got to get dirty and eat to his little hearts content! I'm surprised he didn't end up with a stomache and even more so that he went to bed without a struggle. We thought for sure he would be bouncing off the walls for the rest of the night from all that sugar!

He seemed to prefer the cheesecake (just like me and his dad!) but who are we kidding...by the end of it they were both completely gone...well atleast what wasn't all over his face and smeared all over the highchair!!!

YUM YUM!

He was so determined to eat every last bit of his cake that he was even licking the frosting off of the highchair! He wasn't letting any of that goodness go to waste! HAHAHA!

After Emmet finished his cake we had to strip him down to his onesie and decided that he needed a bath! He had cake EVERYWHERE!!!

Emmet had too much fun getting this dirty!!!

Lucky for us and Emmet that he LOVES baths so it was the perfect ending to his perfect little birthday!

What a crazy kid!

Well.... I'm back in the Cayman Islands, and it was a complete adventure getting back here. April, Emmet, and Weston will be joining me here on the 26th of this month, and I can't wait. I was suppose to fly back here on Sunday and for some reason I decided to transform into a complete moron and not check my itinerary the day before to see when I was suppose to fly out. The time I assumed that I was flying out of Spokane was at 9am in the morning and arriving in the Cayman islands at 11pm. Well as we got onto the highway at 7am in the morning I decided to check how long my layovers were in Los Angeles and Miami. It was at this time that I found that my plane actually left at 7:30 NOT 9:00. Well since I didn't have teleport capability, I knew that there was no way I could make the flight considering I still had an 1 1/2 hrs of driving ahead of me. Then I discovered that Orbitz has the worst customer service I have ever met and was soon having to buy a new ticket to leave the next day on. But I talked to Cayman Airways and they just made me pay a $70 change fee and changed my ticket from LA to Miami, and Miami to Grand Cayman for the next day.

I actually wasn't too sad that I missed my flight and had to stay another day, because I was able to spend another day with April, Emmet, and Weston. Especially because that night before I was suppose to leave I spent the whole night up with Emmet who was sick. It was sooo sad.... I sat all night with Emmet asleep on my chest, where at the beginning... he would cry, lift his head up and throw up all over my chest. It was at this time that I realized just what it's like to be a parent. Because.... here Emmet was throwing up chunks of macaroni cheese and milk all over my chest and I didn't even care or get grossed out by it. I just sat there holding him, and making sure that all the throw up landed on me, instead of my mom's lazy boy chair. So I was glad that I could spend this extra day taking care of him, while April took care of Weston, who was also throwing up.

By the time I left the next morning, Emmet was back to his normal self running around causing trouble. But... then April got sick throwing up and with a headache so thankfully my mom took Weston that night for her and took care of Emmet and Weston the next day so that she could rest and get better. THANKS MOM.

My flight from Spokane to Los Angeles that morning went without any difficulty. That all changed when I went to LA though.... I went to the American Airlines terminal to get my boarding pass and was told that since I missed my flight the day before, even though Cayman Airways switched it to today, this ticket was invalid. I was given two options, either buy a whole new ticket costing me $1,100!!! or fly out the next day and stay the night in the airport. Well.... I was not very happy and after 45 minutes arguing with this lady I then spoke to the Supervisor who took me aside and hooked me up big time. I think it was because I gave her a big pitty story and made her feel bad for me. She sold me a ticket for a whole different flight that only cost me $250 and got me on the plane and everything turned out awesome. I arrived in the Cayman Islands 11pm that night, and had to go through Customs with all my X-Mas gifts, which I was sure I would have to pay a hefty duty on. But you see..... I planned ahead. Customs are suppose to give us Med Students a break with paying duties and so I purposefully wore my St. Matthews Med School sweat shirt, and when it was my turn to go through Customs with my Ipod Stereo, and Weston's Play Pen. I immediately went into kiss butt mode and talked about how excited I was to start school tomorrow. Well.... it worked because they usually go through all of my bags, but this custom official started joking around with me and asking me Med School Questions, and let me go through without checking 1 of my 4 bags.

I thought that I would hate coming back here.... but in all reality I was really happy to be here. The weather here is PERFECT. It's probably 75 degrees everyday with a nice ocean cool breeze. I spick and spanned our condo before I left and so coming home to a clean condo made it really nice also. It is now tourism season here and so Cruise Ships are here now by the dozens every week, and so the whole island looks magnificent. All of the roads are newly paved, and the resorts are all decked out, and the weather is perfect. It was nice to come here and slip into my summer clothes and flip flops. It would have made it a whole lot better if April, Emmet, and Weston were here. Now that April's not pregnant, its going to be easier to visit the island's many attractions, such as visiting the Turtle Farm to swim with Dolphins.

I hear from upper class students that this 2nd semester is suppose to be the hardest of all the semesters, I'm taking Biochemistry, Genetics, Physiology, Pt-Dr II, and Neuroscience, which comes to a total of 25 credits. Yesterday was my first day and our Professors are awesome. 2 of them are new to my school. My Neuroscience Professor is the same Gross Anatomy teacher that I had last semester who was awesome. My Physiology Professor is new here and has taught Physiology at Loma Linda Med School in California for the past 10 years. Then my Biochemistry and Genetics Professor is also new who has taught at UCLA Med School. So they really know there stuff and are really interesting to listen to. So this is the update of our chaotic life for right now, but.... I can't wait to be back with April, Emmet, and Weston at the end of this month. The time spent together this X-Mas was awesome and we had a blast. Emmet acts like a toddler now, and Weston is calm, BIG, and loves to snuggle. April will pick him up and he'll snuggle his head into her neck and fall asleep, its funny to see. And Emmet has learned to tap his right foot up and down on the floor when he hears music, which we have no idea where he picked this up, because I never heard Cotton Eye Joe playing over the break. And Emmet also has learned that if he can't do something he can get us to do it. He'll grab a can of pop and try to snap it open, since he can't he'll then carry it to one of us and hand it to us to open it for him, if we hand it back to him without opening it he gets mad and throws it. He still has no idea that he is a big brother now. It was pretty funny when April would leave me with Emmet and Weston while she took a shower. Weston would wake up and start crying so then I would pick him up, then Emmet would see and run over to me and grab a hold of my pant leg and start tugging on it whining to me. Then April would come out and see my situation with both kids and we both would start laughing. Having 2 kids definitely changes things...... I wouldn't have it any other way though...... But if you think we're going to have another kid anytime soon though..... you are sadly mistaken....... and if anybody mentions to us to have another kid...... it will be followed up with me punching you in the neck...... LOL

The boys...

Just a few pictures of the boys around Emmet's snack time...

It's so funny to see how different the boys look...even there temperaments at this age are so different. They are almost opposites. Emmet is so dark with a dimple on the left cheek and Weston is so light (the eyes are even looking blue!) with a dimple on the right cheek! So together they make a complete package! P.s. No his hair is not red...it's light brown/blonde...this pic has a wierd halo of lighting around his hair?

He does have big cheeks like Emmet did though!

Since we've been here Emmet has gained 3 lbs. making him a whole 25 lbs!!! He has quite the appetite now. I think he must be enjoying the delicious food outside the baby food world! Weston is probably around 10 lbs. He is fits perfect in some of his 3 months clothes! Although...he won't be a month old until saturday!!!

Emmet looking so big!

Merry Christmas!!!

This was the boys very first Christmas...together! It was so nice to be back in the states and spend time with family instead of alone in Grand Cayman. That 95 degree weather just doesn't feel like Christmas!

Grandma and Grandpa Moberg got Emmet the coolest flying ball toy for Christmas. Emmet absolutley LOVED it! It was so funny to watch him clap and yell as he ran around the room collecting all the balls. He is getting to be nuttier by the day!

Weston spent most of his day relaxing and taking lots of naps! He was such a good baby the whole day. He even slept long enough for everyone to get through presents...that in its self is a Christmas miracle!

I don't think I've ever mentioned it but Emmet is OBSESSED with any and all balls. Basketballs especially (funny I know!). So it was only perfect when "Santa" brought him a Little Tikes basketball hoop. Ryan taught him to throw the ball in when he lifted him up to it. So now he'll run up to him with the ball, Ryan will lift him up, he'll throw it in, and then clap and laugh like crazy! Such a little toddler! I think it's so funny that he just happens to love basketballs...Ryan on the other hand thinks it's genetic...who knows!!!

Waiting patiently for dad to play ;)

Christmas Eve

Our first family photo with baby Weston!

Dad and Weston on his first Christmas Eve!

This may Emmet's first Christmas, but he is a champion present opener! He really looked like santa's little helper shuffling around all the presents under the tree...I just wish we could get him to stop eating the paper!!!

Grandma Moberg got the boys these adorable Christmas pajamas so of course the boys had to wear them. I'm so surprised Emmet kept his hat on...Wes wasn't really liking it though!

Christmas Eve was so much fun with the Moberg family. We had lots of great food and company and it was SO nice to have our little family all together after such a whirlwind of events these past months!
