So Brave!

Emmet has been able to stand for a little while, but last night was my first opportunity to snap a photo of him! He's getting so big and brave so we can now stand a little farther away from him before he drops to his bum or reaches out for something to hold onto. I gave him my chapstick to distract him from his fears, he was so concentrated on it that he didn't notice me snapping away. He's pretty miniature to be standing...atleast I feel that way!

Dad was making Emmet laugh for the camera. I love this one because you can see his teeth so well!

I had just put some chapstick on him, it looks like he's posing with his lips all puckered. He must've been wondering what that tingly feeling was on his little pout.

What a big boy!

Today was a big day for our little man, Emmet. He took his very FIRST steps! Ryan was just studying in the living room, all his books, notes, and laptop spread across the couch and Emmet, like always, was trying to get his sticky fingers on anything he could! Ry of course was trying to keep everything out of arms reach and wasn't doing a very good job! Emmet is pretty quick and sneaky! So before you knew it Emmet was chomping away on Ryan's pen. Of course, I made a big fuss and Ryan snatched it away before he could poke an eye out. Well, as he was taking it away Emmet attached himself to the pen and would not let it out of his grip! Ry finally pried it from his grasp and Em took 3 big boy steps toward dad to get it back!!! We were so excited! Since then he has taken a few more steps here and there. Mostly from us bribing him with something we know he wants! It's so funny to see him reach these big milestones! After he took his steps we clapped and made a big fuss...you could just see how proud he was of himself! I haven't gotten any pictures yet...it's still early in the game, but I will be sure to put some up soon! Here are some pics of him cheesin' it up though! These seem to be the only pics I can get of him lately. As soon as he sees the camera he's hanging on my leg trying to get it from me! Enjoy!

Evening at the beach

Tonight we decided to go to the beach to watch the sunset. Although, it started raining before the sun went down, it was still nice to get out and enjoy the view for a bit. Today Emmet had his 9 month shots and I thought it would be good for him to get out. He loves being outside. Any time he's upset we just take him for a walk outside...works like a charm!

I think it's my favorite thing in the whole world to watch my boys together. Nothing makes me happier than to see those two laughing and playing together. Emmet is getting really fun because he's really starting to understand "english," (if that's how you want to put it). Here Ryan was trying to show Emmet how to play in the sand. It was so cute to see him do what Ryan was showing him. Plus, look at how teensy his hand is compared to his dads! Pretty precious :)

Emmet decided pretty quick the sand wasn't for him! Instead, he spent most of the time climbing all over Ryan. He is getting so strong. He can stand by himself for over 30 seconds now...I'm just waiting for that first step! It should be soon!

I think we are going to come to the beach more often. It's nice because since Emmet doesn't like the sand it's like an invisible play pen. He stays on the blanket and we don't have to chase him anywhere! And it is WONDERFUL!

We decided Emmet doesn't like the water coming at him...he likes to be the attacker! He really enjoyed it until we put him just a little too close to the tide. Poor baby, we had to take a pic though :)

Emmet calmed down pretty quick after we got him away from the tide. He was just bothered by that "icky" sand he kept shaking his hands to frantically get off. What a nut :)

Site-Seeing

After lunch the three of us took a stroll around the downtown "tourist" area. These are some of the more popular sites. It was a pretty quiet day, not much tourist activity, but we were grateful not to have to fight through the crowds! I posted some pictures of the docks, but nothing was really going on. Usually there are TONS of cruise ships right off the bay where tourists can get off and see the sites. You can also see pics of some of the shopping areas, popular bars, a Harley Davidson shop, and some goofy pics of us :) I also need to mention there are like a million fine jewelry stores around here....and banks....hmmmm ;) I reminded Ryan today that while we are here we'll be celebrating our 5th year anniversary...and we all know thats a big one!!! HINT HINT ;)

Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe

Today was a perfect day to go out to eat and see some of the sites. The weather was perfect...kind of overcast and not too hot! We had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe and Emmet absolutely loved it there. There was so much for him to look at and play with. Ryan has this trick, he puts some water on the table in front of Emmet and he goes nuts smearing it around and slapping at it! He thinks it's the greatest thing ever! Lunch was great and our entertainment (Emmet, of course) was even better :)
